The Clearing Corporation of India Limited (CCIL) is an Indian financial market infrastructure institution that provides clearing, settlement, trade repository, and risk management services for transactions in the country's money, government securities, foreign exchange, and derivatives markets. Incorporated in 2001 at the initiative of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), CCIL was established to strengthen India's financial market infrastructure by reducing counterparty risk and improving the efficiency of post-trade settlement. Headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra, the corporation operates under the regulatory oversight of the Reserve Bank of India and serves as a central counterparty (CCP) for several key segments of India's financial markets.

CCIL provides clearing and settlement services for government securities, treasury bills, foreign exchange transactions, money market instruments, interest rate derivatives, and other eligible financial products. As a central counterparty, it guarantees settlement by interposing itself between buyers and sellers, thereby mitigating counterparty credit risk and enhancing market stability. The corporation's core functions include trade novation, multilateral netting, collateral management, margin collection, settlement guarantee, default management, and liquidity risk monitoring. In addition to its clearing services, CCIL operates trade repositories for over-the-counter (OTC) derivatives and supports the settlement of transactions executed through various financial market platforms, contributing to transparency and regulatory oversight.

Beyond clearing and settlement, CCIL develops and operates technology-driven financial market infrastructure supporting secure and efficient market operations. The corporation employs sophisticated risk management frameworks, including real-time exposure monitoring, stress testing, collateral valuation, default waterfall mechanisms, and business continuity planning. It also provides electronic dealing and reporting platforms, data services, and post-trade processing solutions for financial institutions participating in India's money and debt markets. Through continuous technological innovation and adherence to international standards for financial market infrastructures, CCIL contributes to the resilience and integrity of the Indian financial system.

The Clearing Corporation of India Limited works closely with institutions including the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), the National Stock Exchange of India (NSE), the BSE Limited, the Indian Clearing Corporation Limited (ICCL), the National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL), Central Depository Services Limited (CDSL), and the International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA).
