Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX) is the operator of Hong Kong's securities and derivatives markets and one of the world's leading exchange groups. Established in 2000 through the merger of the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Futures Exchange, and the Hong Kong Securities Clearing Company, HKEX provides trading, clearing, settlement, market data, and securities depository services for equities, derivatives, fixed-income products, exchange-traded funds, commodities, and structured products. Listed on the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong, HKEX operates under the regulatory oversight of the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) and serves as a major international financial market connecting investors with capital markets in Hong Kong, Mainland China, and globally.

HKEX operates several core market infrastructures, including the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong (SEHK), the Hong Kong Futures Exchange (HKFE), the London Metal Exchange (LME), and multiple clearing houses responsible for securities and derivatives settlement. The exchange group supports the listing and trading of shares, bonds, real estate investment trusts (REITs), exchange-traded funds (ETFs), warrants, callable bull/bear contracts (CBBCs), commodities, and derivatives. HKEX also administers electronic disclosure services through the HKEXnews platform, which serves as the official repository for announcements, financial reports, prospectuses, circulars, corporate governance disclosures, environmental, social and governance (ESG) reports, and other statutory filings submitted by listed issuers under the Listing Rules of the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong.

HKEX plays a central role in connecting China's capital markets with international investors through cross-border initiatives such as Shanghai–Hong Kong Stock Connect, Shenzhen–Hong Kong Stock Connect, Bond Connect, and Swap Connect. These programmes facilitate mutual market access between Mainland China and Hong Kong while strengthening Hong Kong's position as an international financial centre. Following its acquisition of the London Metal Exchange in 2012, HKEX expanded its global commodities business and further diversified its market infrastructure. The exchange group has also invested in digital market infrastructure, sustainable finance, carbon markets, and fintech initiatives to enhance market efficiency, transparency, and international competitiveness.

Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing works closely with institutions including the Securities and Futures Commission (Hong Kong), the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, the China Securities Regulatory Commission, the People's Bank of China, the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Futures Exchange, and international financial market participants. Through its trading, clearing, settlement, listing, and disclosure services, HKEX serves as one of Asia's principal capital market infrastructures and an important gateway between Chinese and global financial markets.
