Global Index (IGI) is a non-commercial online bibliographic database and open-access scholarly repository developed and maintained by Global. The platform aggregates bibliographic records, abstracts, metadata, and links to scholarly publications from open-access journals, institutional repositories, and other academic sources. Built on the Omeka digital repository platform, IGI is designed to improve the discoverability, organization, and accessibility of scholarly literature through standardized metadata and repository management practices. The platform primarily indexes open-access research rather than functioning as a primary publisher of scholarly content.

History
IndraStra Global Index was established in 2019 as part of IndraStra Global's broader knowledge management and scholarly publishing initiatives. The repository was developed to provide a centralized bibliographic database for aggregating metadata from diverse academic sources while supporting open dissemination of scholarly information. Since its launch, the platform has expanded its collections to include publications from journals covering disciplines such as international relations, engineering, education, health sciences, information technology, economics, environmental studies, and the social sciences.

Overview
IGI functions as a bibliographic discovery platform rather than a conventional journal publishing system. It stores descriptive metadata, abstracts, subject classifications, publication information, and persistent links to scholarly resources while preserving standardized records using internationally recognized metadata schemas. Individual repository records typically include bibliographic information such as title, author, publisher, publication date, subject keywords, language, document type, licensing information, and source publication. Where permitted, records also provide access to full-text documents or links to the original publisher.

Architecture and technology
The repository is implemented using Omeka, an open-source digital repository and cultural heritage management platform. Omeka provides facilities for metadata management, collection organization, item-level description, search, browsing, and standards-based interoperability. IGI utilizes the Dublin Core metadata standard to describe scholarly resources and supports structured bibliographic records that can be indexed by search engines and harvested by compatible repository services. The platform's architecture enables organization of records into collections representing journals, repositories, or subject domains.

Collections and content
IndraStra Global Index contains bibliographic records from numerous open-access journals and repositories spanning multiple academic disciplines. Repository entries generally include peer-reviewed journal articles, research papers, conference publications, review articles, and other scholarly materials. Each record includes structured metadata describing the publication together with subject classifications and bibliographic details that facilitate information retrieval and academic discovery. Collections are organized according to source journals or thematic subject areas, enabling users to browse publications by discipline or publication source. (IndraStra Global Index)

Metadata and indexing
The platform emphasizes standardized metadata to improve interoperability and resource discovery. Repository records generally include descriptive fields such as title, creator, publisher, publication date, subject, abstract, language, format, rights information, document type, identifiers, and collection membership. By employing structured metadata based on Dublin Core and related repository standards, IGI facilitates consistent indexing and retrieval across diverse scholarly resources while supporting integration with library discovery systems and academic search engines.

Applications
IGI serves researchers, students, librarians, educators, policymakers, and information professionals seeking access to bibliographic information for open-access scholarly literature. The repository may be used for literature discovery, citation verification, subject exploration, institutional knowledge management, and academic research support. Because it aggregates metadata from multiple sources, the platform provides users with a centralized point for identifying publications across different journals and repositories.

Relationship with IndraStra Global
IndraStra Global Index forms part of the broader knowledge infrastructure developed by IndraStra Global Publishing Solutions Inc., which provides publishing, repository management, and knowledge systems services. According to the organization's published information, the repository complements its activities in scholarly publishing, digital repositories, and knowledge management by providing bibliographic indexing and metadata management capabilities.

Reception and significance
By focusing on open-access scholarly resources and standardized metadata, IndraStra Global Index contributes to the discoverability of academic publications originating from diverse publishers and repositories. Its use of established repository technologies and metadata standards reflects broader developments in digital scholarly communication and open knowledge infrastructure.
