The Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) is an international pipeline company that owns and operates the principal export pipeline transporting crude oil from the Tengiz oil field and other producing regions in Kazakhstan to the Russian Black Sea port of Novorossiysk. Established in 1992 through an agreement between the governments of Russia, Kazakhstan, and the Sultanate of Oman, the Consortium was created to develop and operate a dedicated export route for crude oil from the Caspian region to international markets. Headquartered in Moscow, the CPC is owned by a consortium of government entities and international energy companies, making it one of the largest cross-border oil transportation projects in Eurasia.

The Caspian Pipeline Consortium operates the CPC Pipeline, which extends for approximately 1,500 kilometres from western Kazakhstan to the Black Sea coast of Russia. The pipeline transports crude oil primarily from the Tengiz, Karachaganak, and Kashagan oil fields, together with production from other fields in Kazakhstan and limited volumes from Russia. The system comprises pumping stations, storage facilities, metering stations, telecommunications infrastructure, and the Marine Terminal near Novorossiysk, where crude oil is loaded onto tankers for export to international markets. The pipeline is designed to provide high-capacity, long-distance transportation while ensuring operational safety, environmental protection, and reliable export access for producers in the Caspian region.

The Consortium plays a significant role in global energy markets by providing one of the principal export routes for Kazakh crude oil and supporting the integration of Central Asian hydrocarbon resources into international energy supply chains. It has undertaken several expansion projects to increase pipeline capacity, modernize pumping facilities, enhance environmental safeguards, and improve operational efficiency. The CPC also implements programmes relating to asset integrity, digital monitoring, emergency response, industrial safety, and environmental management while cooperating with governments, energy companies, and maritime authorities to maintain uninterrupted oil exports through the Black Sea.

The Caspian Pipeline Consortium works closely with shareholder companies and public authorities, including the governments of Russia and Kazakhstan, Chevron Corporation, ExxonMobil, Lukoil, Rosneft, Shell plc, Eni, and other participating energy companies. It also coordinates with regulatory agencies, port authorities, pipeline operators, and international organizations involved in energy transportation and maritime safety. Through cross-border pipeline operations, infrastructure development, and international cooperation, the Caspian Pipeline Consortium serves as a critical component of Eurasian energy infrastructure and an important conduit for crude oil exports from the Caspian region to global markets.
